The High Seas Certificate course takes place in a modern classroom, centrally located in the Stampf marina at Stampfstrasse 100, 8645 Rapperswil-Jona. With practical examples, genuine enthusiasm for the subject, and professional course materials, our instructors turn theory into an engaging experience.

To successfully pass the exam, you should plan for approximately 4 hours of homework per week.

Our highly skilled and experienced instructors teach the nautical knowledge required for the High Seas Certificate (formerly B-License) with dedication and patience. Individual questions from each student are always addressed during lessons. Even after class, we’re available to assist you with any questions or uncertainties via email or phone.

For the High Seas Certificate (B-License) theory exam, which is administered by the CCS (Cruising Club of Switzerland), you will have several exam dates and locations to choose from after completing the theory course. During the lessons, you will receive detailed guidance regarding registration, the exam procedure, and requirements—and we will support you throughout the process.

Once you’ve passed the theory exam, it’s time to head out to sea and put your knowledge into practice! Our sailing holidays and training cruises are ideal for gaining the practical skills and experience you need. After passing the theory exam, you have 4 years to log nautical miles and have them confirmed in your logbook in order to obtain the High Seas Certificate.

Minimum required sea experience:

Sailing yachts: A total of 3 weeks at sea (18 days on the water), covering 1,000 nautical miles, of which up to 300 nautical miles from previous experience can be credited.

Motor yachts: A total of 10 days at sea, covering 500 nautical miles, of which up to 100 nautical miles from previous experience can be credited.
