Intensive group course for the D license
Training for Category D is required when sailing vessels with a sail area of over 15 m² are operated on Swiss waters.
In our intensive group courses, we prepare you for the exam within 4 days. If desired, the practical sailing exam can be taken immediately after the course. Course spots can be booked individually.
The intensive group courses take place at our base in Pfäffikon SZ. The base is easily accessible by car and public transport.We support you in all matters from the theory exam to successfully passing the practical sailing exam.
We also take care of organizing the practical exam and handling formalities with the shipping authority.

Requirements
If you wish to take the practical exam following the four-day intensive course, you must first have passed the theory exam. Information on registration and preparation for the theory exam can be found here.
Once you have successfully passed the theory exam, we will gladly organize the practical exam date with an official examiner in your home canton upon request.

Der Unterricht findet täglich, auch an Wochenenden und Feiertagen statt.

A lesson usually lasts two hours. In our experience, this is the ideal duration for learning quickly and efficiently.
Our boats are very spacious and can accommodate up to three students. You simply split the lesson price among yourselves.
Without prior knowledge, you can expect to reach exam readiness in private lessons after 8–10 sessions (16–20 hours).
You can take the practical exam, upon request, in a canton other than the one you reside in. The relevant application forms can be found here.
Yes, we operate continuously from Monday to Sunday and can offer many appointments on weekends.
There is an app that prepares you perfectly for the theory exam.
Sailing training takes place from early March to the end of November.
We are happy to offer instruction in German or English. You can also take both the theoretical and practical exam with us in either German or English.
As soon as you want to operate a sailboat with a sail area of 15 square meters or more on lakes or rivers (inland waters), you need the D-license.
The sailing license (D-license) is valid on all Swiss lakes, rivers, and border waters, as well as on most lakes and rivers worldwide. Upon request, you can exchange the Swiss license for an International Certificate of Competence.
Lessons take place in all weather conditions, except during storm warnings or thunderstorms. You can rely on our ocean-ready training boats and experienced instructors in any weather!
A first aid course is not required for the inland sailing license (D license).
No prior experience is necessary. Our team will patiently introduce you to the boat and its unique characteristics, helping you develop a passion for water sports. During the lessons, you will learn everything essential to safely operate a sailboat.
The lessons are structured so that the experience you gain with us will prepare you successfully for the exam. It is not necessary to practice on another boat. However, certain exam components, such as knots and right-of-way rules, can be practiced additionally at home.
Of course, we will practice with you in the exam area to help build greater confidence.
Yes, that is possible and even common. You can start sailing lessons at any time, even without having passed the theory exam or holding a learner’s permit. However, you must pass the theory exam in order to register for the practical test.
Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the temperature, and a waterproof jacket and pants in case of rain. If needed, you can borrow a waterproof jacket and pants from us. Don’t forget sun protection!
